DAVID WHITE

David White, who plays the part of Darrin Stephens' distinguished, silver-haired, long-suffering boss, Larry Tate, in Screen Gems' hit comedy series "Bewitched", is a seasoned veteran of Broadway, motion pictures, live television, and both dramatic and comedy series.

Born in Denver, White studied drama at Los Angeles City College and started his professional career with little theater productions around Los Angeles and New York. He served in the Marines in the South Pacific in World War II, and in the early post-war years, was a member of the Cleveland Playhouse.

Shortly after that, White landed his first major Broadway role in a play called "Leaf and Bough". The play ran a fast two days and then closed.

But White made an impression, and went on to roles in more successful Broadway productions such as "The Bird Cage", "Anniversary Waltz" and "Romanoff and Juliet". He appeared in the movie "Sweet Smell Of Success" and all of New York's best live TV shows, including "Playhouse 90", and "Studio One".

White's many series television roles include "Have Gun Will Travel", "The Virginian", "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and a memorable "Untouchables" episode, "The Rusty Heller Story", which won an Emmy nomination for future "Bewitched" star Elizabeth Montgomery in the title role.

White has expanded his activities to directing and is also busy in his spare hours with a workshop group, "Theater West".
