Despite Endora's warnings, Samantha refuses to go without her spouse. Darrin, meanwhile, has landed a big account but reluctantly cancels his "big break" when he learns of Samantha's Salem obligation. Shortly afterwards, the Stephens' get unexpected company as Hepzibah, High Priestess of witchdom, literally "pops in for a visit. Darrin isn't impressed with the royal visit, especially when Hepzibah tries to boss him around his own house.

At first distressed by Darrin's insubordination for her and her entourage, Hepzibah soon begins to tolerate Samantha's mortal mate. She becomes less demanding, less critical. She concludes that there must be something keeping Samantha wed to Darrin. She decides that instead of disbanding the marriage --as she had originally planned to do -- she'd rather observe the "mixed" marriage to better understand the situation. With a royal nod, Hepzibah transforms the Stephens' living room into something resembling the Palace at Versailles. The High Priestess is now ready to stay and observe and, hopefully, to determine how an intelligent and attractive witch like Samantha could choose a moron mortal to marry.

Larry Tate - David White
JANE CONNELL as Hepzibah
Cesar Romero as Mr. Hitchcock

SYNOPSIS

Hepzibah, Empress and High Priestess of all witches and warlocks, has taken up residence at the Stephens' home. The purpose of her visit is to observe the first and only marriage of a witch and a mortal. Naturally, she has brought along certain "trappings" to enhance the esteemed presence of the Empress ... they include the transforming of the Stephens home into a pretty good imitation of Buckingham Palace, complete with four servants, a trumpeter, and a pair of Russian wolfhounds. She constantly refers to Darrin as "the mortal" and is generally making life very hard for him and Samantha. The result of her study, will either be her approval on the match or the dissolving of the marriage...the latter to be achieved by simply dissolving Darrin.

Darrin is doing very poorly at making a good impression on Hepzibah when she and Samantha "pop" in at his office. Mr. Hitchcock, a very important client, is saved from Hepzibah's wrath by a spell from Samantha which makes him very attentive and attracted to Hepzibah. Not only does it save Mr. Hitchcock from her wrath, it also makes Hepzibah a bit more attracted to mortals than she has been. Hepzibah's decision to drum Samantha out of the witches world, as opposed to dissolving Darrin is postponed when Samantha tells Mr. Hitchcock that Hepzibah will be in Salem the following weekend and he makes plans to be there also. Salem is the site of the Witches Convention and Samantha wants Darrin to attend. Thus, Darrin and Samantha are given more time to prove that a witch and a mortal can live happily ever after.

Darrin is arrested and the evidence, after some strange incidents, is taken. Darrin is put in jail, the evidence is locked away and Samantha proceeds to try and solve the mystery.

Samantha goes to the witches' convention grounds and has Endora incant up the witch who originally put the curse on the bedwarmer as she is the only one who can remove the curse. The witch is none other than Serena. The bedwarmer is actually an amorous warlock named Newton who, way back in old Salem days, kept bugging Serena to marry him. The reason he's been following Samantha is that he thinks she is Serena. Since Serena can't remember back three hundred years to the spell she used to change Newton into a bedwarmer, she is sent back in time to relive the incident. She finally returns with the spell. Samantha goes to the jail, zaps the desk sergeant into a deep sleep and returns the bedwarmer to Newton the warlock. When Darrin's case is finally brought to court there is no evidence so Darrin can't be held for stealing the bedwarmer. When the arresting officers are brought forward, Samantha twitches a spell on them so they will tell the judge exactly what happened when they took the evidence from the motel. The judge listens to the strange tale and dismisses the case. Miss Ferndale's loud protests are suddenly quieted a bit by amorous Newton, who has been admiring her for year.

When Darrin refuses to do business on his vacation, Larry angrily demands his teapot back. Meanwhile, trying to be helpful, Esmeralda (who's been babysitting for the Stephen's children) pops in -- and out, taking all Samantha's souvenirs, including the teapot, back home with her. Realizing this, Darrin stalls Larry while Samantha contacts Esmeralda, who uses her powers in an attempt to return it. Instead of a teapot, Samantha finds herself face-to-face with Paul Revere himself.

Paul, who still thinks it's 1776, overhears Sir Leslie discussing his plans to "invade the American market" with his British product. Thinking he's discovered a British plot against the Colonies, he mounts his horse and rides out of the hotel and into the streets shouting "the British are coming," with Samantha in close pursuit. The chase ends up at the police station where Samantha explains everything to a very bewildered Paul Revere. Esmeralda's witchcraft is finally successful after her third try, and the teapot, which turns out to be an original Paul Revere, is returned. She wanders into an inn owned by the Farleys' and Mrs. Farley puts her to work as a barmaid. Meanwhile, at the Stephens' home, Endora pops in looking for Sam and discovers Esmeralda's error. The Magistrate overhears this and orders Darrin to spend a day in the stocks for lewd conduct.

Larry Tate - David White
Mrs. Nichols - Barbara Morrison
Mrs. Raphael - Ann Doran
Clark - Robert Wolders
Dancer - Jerry Rush

SYNOPSIS

Darrin is after the Bigelows Industries' account. Mr. Nichols, president of the firm, is a social snob whose business relations unalterably are linked to public relations. In other words, if Nichols or his wife doesn't like you socially, you can count on not getting their account. On the home front, Endora -- in her usual un-motherly manner, casts a spell on Samantha. It links Sam's thoughts and words with Cousin Serena's. What Serena says, Samantha says and likewise for actions. Darrin is confused by his wife's madness, especially during a surprise visit by Mrs. Nichols. The unexpected social call is obviously espionage. The situation worsens when Larry, who just happened to be in the neighborhood, calls on the Stephens' in a kind of counter-espionage.

Samantha is at her worst as Serena's anti-social "no-no's" periodically invade Sam's normally acceptable social etiquette. Mrs. Nichols and her society sidekick, Mrs. Raphael, can hardly wait to leave the Stephens' household. Larry realizes that with the ladies leaving, the advertising account goes with them. Darrin is also "on the way out" -- of the company that is --- until Larry later discovers that Mr. Nichols is discovered to be associated with the underworld. In scaring off the Bigelow account, Samantha has saved Darrin's company's reputation and, incidentally, his job.

Even though Darrin's spirits are up, his sales are down and Larry urges Samantha's mate to take a week off to stir-up the creative juices. Darrin comes back to work and readies himself to face one of the agency's meanest (and richest) customers. Mr. Harmon clearly makes it known that he has thus far been dissatisfied with Larry's choice of ad campaigns. Looking to Darrin for something extra special, he is pleased when he comes up with a concise, well directed sales pitch that he's certain Mr. Harmon will applaud. Instead of clapping, Mr. Harmon turns thumbs down on the entire ad campaign. Darrin can't understand what went wrong. He can think of no mortal reason why it happened and he concludes it must be witchcraft.

Certain that his meddlesome mother-in-law put a zap on his creative sap, Darrin asks Samantha to counter-zap her mother with a favorable twitch. Sam concocts what she says is a magic potion that will give her harried husband the confidence he needs to sell himself and his ideas to Mr. Harmon. Suggesting that he take the very same ad campaign which was rejected back to Harmon, Darrin drinks the juice and is instantly a man of confidence. To Larry's great shock, Darrin sells Mr. Harmon the very same ad campaign he rejected yesterday. To Darrin's great shock, Samantha informs him that his confidence was his own and that the potion that he drank had no more zap than soda pop.

Endora and Serena think it terrible that Samantha is not permitted to use her witchly powers. They decide to take the situation into their own hands and solve everything by turning Darrin into a warlock!

This is achieved by Serena traveling back to the fourteenth century and casting a spell on one of Darrin's ancestors--- Darrin the Bold. Once the spell is cast, Darrin will immediately inherit the powers of a warlock. Serena casts the spell. Simultaneously, Darrin, vaguely wishing for a beer suddenly gets his wish. He and Samantha think it is just the work of Endora. When confronted, Endora denies any tricks and gleefully tells Samantha and Darrin that Darrin is in the first stages of becoming a warlock...wishcraft. Darrin reacts by "popping" out to a neighborhood tavern and Samantha by questioning her cousin Serena. Samantha finds out the truth and to remove the spell must travel back to the time of Darrin the Bold. Samantha has a bit of a time with the amorous Darrin the Bold, but removes the spell and Darrin is re-mortalized.

SYNOPSIS

Uncle Arthur is in love -- hopelessly in love -- with Aretha, a snobbish witch who can't and won't tolerate a practical joker. Attempting to conceal the fact that he is an uncontrollable "jokoholic," Uncle Arthur casts a spell which transfers all his pranks to the Stephens' home ... literally turning it into a fun house. Darrin gets home from the office and as he walks through the front door, a bucket of water upsets itself right on his head. Realizing what was going on and who was behind it all, Samantha tries to contact Uncle Arthur before Larry arrives with a potential client -- but without success.

Landing the Rockfield Furniture account means a great deal to Darrin --and a lot more to Larry -- so Larry brings Mr. and Mrs. Rockfield to the Stephens' house for dinner. Stuffy Mr. Rockfield isn't the least bit amused at the series of not-so-practical jokes which occur...glasses stick to the table ... Darrin's shoes stick to the floor and, out of nowhere, there appears a barrel of monkeys -- real monkeys. Rockfield's aggravation steadily increases. Meanwhile in the kitchen, Sam is still trying to contact Uncle Arthur. Finally, he pompously pops in. Since Aretha is with him, he denies any knowledge of what's going on. Sam has no choice -- she opens the door and when Aretha sees the monkeys she pops out. Uncle Arthur realizes that Aretha was just a phony and removes the spell. The house is back to normal and with the usual assistance from Samantha, Darrin comes up with an ad campaign that more than satisfies Rockfield and lands the account.

SYNOPSIS

When Samantha discovers she's losing the zip in her zap, Serena tells her she'll have to go for a ten thousand twitch overhaul. This "witches lube job" requires Sam to leave the mortal world for twelve hours, being incommunicado with her mortal mate for the whole time. Larry, meanwhile, comes up with a potentially lucrative account, Berkley Hair Tonic. He's depending upon his ace ad man, Darrin, to pull another creative coup. Larry wants Darrin to invite Mr. and Mrs. Berkley to his house to establish a rapport before presenting his ad campaign. Berkley, a born skeptic, isn't about to give up his "bread" by being buttered up by the Stephens' hospitality.

Serena, taking advantage of Samantha's absence, pops herself in and, much to Darrin's chagrin, declares herself to be substitute spouse. Because company's coming, Darrin is forced to play husband. He begs Serena to blink up a meal and to try to be extra nice for his sake. When the Berkley's arrive, Serena is overly nice to Mr. Berkley -- to the obvious disapproval of Mrs. Berkley. Serena creates a chaotic situation that is resolved only when Samantha blinks herself in just in time. She justifies her previous behavior (Serena's) by explaining that she is in sensitivity training. Angered because her cousin has straightened things out, Serena seeks revenge by animating one of Tabitha's stuffed trolls hoping to embarrass the Stephens'. Darrin, quickly catching the caper, says that the troll is all part of his new ad campaign.
The "hair" raising comment saves the day for Darrin.

Betty - Ann Doran

SYNOPSIS

Darrin has prepared two ad campaigns for Col. Bringham's spareribs and cannot decide which one to present to the prospective client. Hearing this, Endora decides to show Samantha how indecisive Darrin is by casting a spell on him. Under the spell, Darrin can make no definite decisions, no matter how small the situation.

When Gladys Kravitz stops him to talk about replacing all the neighborhood trash cans, Darrin totally confuses her. She then rings the doorbell to talk to Samantha and in the course of conversation mentions how strange Darrin was. Samantha senses a spell and pops in on Darrin at the office. She verifies her suspicions, returns home and calls for Endora. As she is confronting Endora, Darrin arrives home early from the office. Endora begrudgingly removes the spell, but Darrin is not about to take the trouble she has caused lying down. There ensues a verbal to-do between Darrin and Endora. Endora says that Darrin is pig-headed and to prove her point pops a pig's head onto Darrin. But, she doesn't stop there -- to let the whole world see just how pig-headed Darrin is, she pops him onto the roof! Before Samantha can get Darrin off the roof, Larry and Col. Bringham arrive. They are speechless at the sight of Darrin with the pig 's head, standing on the roof. Samantha quickly ties Darrin's predicament into in ad campaign, explaining that he is simply visualizing the revolving sign to be used over the Colonel's restaurants. Inside the house, when Darrin does not remove the pig's head, Samantha explains that Darrin is testing the "mask" to be worn by the principal player in the TV commercials he wrote for the Colonel's spareribs. After a demonstration involving a chorus or two of "Old MacDonald's Farm," Samantha and Darrin excuse themselves to the kitchen to remove the "mask".

Samantha calls Endora who pops Darrin's head back just in time. Naturally, Col. Bringham loves the campaign and all ends well.

Just as morning approaches, Samantha pops into Louise's bed and Louise pops into Samantha's bed. Naturally, Samantha is surprised when she awakens next to Larry Tate. By freezing Larry, Samantha pops back to her own house and upon seeing Louise realizes what has happened. The strangest aspect of this change is that only Samantha is aware of what has happened ... Darrin thinks Louise is Samantha and Larry thinks Samantha is Louise. Sam quickly calls Endora for help. Endora listens to Samantha's predicament and hurries off to find Dr. Bombay. He arrives and his diagnosis is a clear cut case of metaphysical molecular disturbance, caused by a cosmic short circuit in Samantha's metaphysical molecules due to her worrying about Louise.

The potion needed calls for the marrow from the tooth of a saber-toothed tiger. Samantha must play the situation along until Dr. Bombay secures this ingredient! She goes to Darrin's office and after finally convincing him that she is not Louise, but Samantha, she tells Darrin what has happened. They decide to have the Tate's (Larry and Samantha) over for dinner (at Darrin and Louise's) and stay up playing cards and talking until Dr. Bombay arrives with the cure. Darrin is all set for a lovely golf weekend when Larry Tate walks in and announces he wants Darrin to spend the day coming up with ideas for a new advertising campaign. It seems that Mr. Flanagan of Mother Flanagan's Irish Stew is leaving his third advertising agency and thinking about coming with McMann and Tate.

Meanwhile, Larry goes out to play golf while Darrin works. As he leaves the house, however, Samantha arranges for him to be caught in a huge downpour.
Endora shows up and has an argument with Darrin about taking Tabitha to the Unicorn Handicap, a race of unicorns held on the other side of the atmospheric continuum. When Darrin refuses to let Tabitha go, Endora changes him into a ten-year old boy.

When Larry walks in, Samantha introduces Darrin/Boy as Darrin's nephew Marvin Peter Stephens. Darrin/Boy goes out to play with Tabitha and with her help beats all the other boys at basketball. One of the boys, Herbie, later comes to the house to ask Darrin/Boy to play in their championships the next day. He sees Samantha mixing the Irish stew and asks for some ... remarking that it tastes terrible. Darrin and Sam also taste the stew and realize the reason it hasn't been selling ... it is awful.

Darrin doesn't want to lie to the public and rave about the stew, so he tries frantically to come up with some ideas for the campaign. (He has apologized to Endora and is back to his normal self.)

Mr. Flanagan arrives and Samantha changes Darrin back to Darrin/Boy so that the young kid can tell Mr. Flanagan how bad the stew really is. Instead of being upset, Mr. Flanagan agrees but doesn't know what to do. Samantha has a brilliant idea ... he should change the price to 39 cents and call it Mother Flanagan's Doggie Treat. Darrin's mother calls and makes plans to go shopping with Samantha. Samantha is in the middle of cleaning her kitchen and since Mrs. Stephens is to arrive momentarily, she pops everything back into place. She realizes Darrin is watching and as she is not supposed to use witchcraft, she feels guilty. She tries to explain, but Darrin says it's okay and that he has a present for her. This makes her feel twice as guilty! As she is thanking Darrin for the present, she hiccups and a bicycle appears. In a matter of five minutes and a few more hiccups, the hall is cluttered with a unicycle, a tricycle, a motorcycle and even a tandem.

When Mrs. Stephens arrives they explain the bikes as part of an exercise kick. Darrin hustles his mother upstairs to see the children and Samantha hurriedly calls Dr. Bombay. He tells her that the guilt she felt earlier for using her powers has been the cause of her hiccuping up the collections of wheels. He incants a spell to eliminate her guilt, the bikes disappear and Samantha goes shopping with Darrin's mother. Darrin notices when they've gone that the mirror in the hall has disappeared. He senses something wrong and asks Serena, who is babysitting, to call Dr. Bombay again. Meanwhile, Samantha and Mrs. Stephens are shopping. Every time Samantha hiccups, something in the store disappears - unbeknownst to Samantha! Finally the store detective becomes suspicious and accuses them of shoplifting. Dr. Bombay arrives, Darrin tells him what happened and in recalling the incantation he used to dispel Samantha's original problem, he realizes when he said all guilt should disappear - the guilt was taken literally as G-I-L-T ... each time Samantha is hiccuping, something made of gilt is disappearing! Dr. Bombay locates Samantha and Mrs. Stephens and saves them from the shoplifting charge by popping back all the missing merchandise.

Phyllis Stephens, Darrin's mother, brings gifts for her grandchildren---a musical top for Adam, and for Tabitha, a rag doll that had been passed down from Phyllis' grandmother. While Sam and Phyllis are chatting, Adam, disinterested with his top, starts playing with the doll. Annoyed, Tabitha uses her witchcraft to get it back and makes the doll float across the room -- in plain view of Phyllis. Knowing Phyllis can't overlook what she'd seen, Samantha uses reverse psychology and asks Phyllis if she has "unusual powers." The suggestion appeals to Phyllis and after going to the library for books on the supernatural, she goes home to tell her husband Frank.

When Darrin comes home, Sam is about to explain what happened but Frank and Phyllis arrive. After consulting her books, Phyllis thinks that the doll is her "familiar." To convince Darrin and Frank that she's not out of her mind, she tries to command the doll to fly across the room -- nothing happens.

Sam decides the only thing to do is throw a scare into her ... she turns Frank into a mule. Now Phyllis thinks she did that too. Sam suggests that Phyllis try contacting her grandmother for advice, and after a mock seance, Phyllis promises never to resort to her "powers" again. Then, with a twitch from Samantha, Frank is back to normal.
